A Great Day in Harlem

For many years, our friend Kevin has been making the trip up to Beacon from Harlem, to stock up on beer for one of NYC’s greatest craft beer bars — Harlem Hops.

Over that time, we’ve grown close, and have long wanted to brew a beer together — not simply for the beer itself, but also for an opportunity for our team to catch the train down to Harlem, and spend the day with Kevin, his business partner Kim, and the community they’ve built on 7th Avenue & 133rd Street.

Well now, we’ve done just that!

‘A Great Day In Harlem’ is a Sour Double IPA with wheat and oat, milk sugar, mango, coconut cream, hibiscus, and Citra hops.

Inspired by a photograph from 1958 for Esquire Magazine, capturing a remarkable gathering of Jazz musicians in front of a townhouse on 126th Street — including Sonny Rollins, Lucky Roberts, Thelonious Monk, and many others. In that photograph, we see the spirit of people coming together, creating something greater than themselves, and looking toward the future with optimism — a spirit that both our teams share and strive to create.

Train beers are an essential part of the job.
