Earlier this month, Anthony and Ryan of Root + Branch Brewing, and Ben of The Test Brewery, came up to visit us in Beacon.

Down time during a brew day.

We brewed two of our most-loved beers together — The Secret Life Of Plants, and The Marriage Of Heaven & Hell.This batch of Secret Life Of Plants is exceptionally decadent, and to us tastes like peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream and graham crackers. In collaboration with both Root + Branch and Test, Plants is brewed w/ wheat & oat, milk sugar, peaches and chamomile, and hopped with Citra and Hallertau Blanc.

A brew day at HVB

For The Marriage Of Heaven & Hell, we decided to switch the hops up a bit this time — going with some very high grade Belma from Root + Branch’s secret stash, along with Citra and Mosaic. The result is a soft and balanced DIPA with big notes of strawberry Nesquik and orange Starburst.

THE SECRET LIFE OF PLANTS (8%)

Sour DIPA w/ wheat & oat, milk sugar, peaches and chamomile, and hopped with Citra and Hallertau Blanc. Brewed in collaboration with Root + Branch and Test Brewery. Tastes like peach cobbler, peach rings, graham crackers, and Goya peach nectar.

THE MARRIAGE OF HEAVEN AND HELL (8%)

DIPA hopped with Citra, Mosaic, and Belma. Brewed in collaboration with Root + Branch Brewing. Tastes like orange Starbursts, strawberry Nesquik, spruce tips.
