In the Valley: Beacon

Even during the chilliest months of winter, there’s lots to explore in the Hudson Valley. If you’re looking for a fun winter getaway, come checkout our hometown, Beacon! Located just 60 miles North of NYC, it’s a great way to spend the day or weekend! We've put together an insider's list of some of our favorite local spots to enjoy on your next visit.

Take a Walk at Long Dock Park

One of our favorite places to spend time outdoors, is at Beacon’s Long Dock Park. With scenic views of the Newburgh-Beacon bridge to the North and Bannerman’s Island to the South, it’s the perfect place to enjoy the outdoors no matter the season. It’s easy to get to without a car from Beacon’s train station and a great spot to watch the sunset and look for birds.

Visit Dia: Beacon

Just up the road from the train station, is Dia: Beacon, one of Beacon’s treasures. The modern art gallery, housed in a former Nabisco factory is the perfect place to spend a chilly winter day. Immerse yourself in permanent collections from Richard Serra, Andy Warhol, Louise Bourgeois, Donald Judd and more. Check out their website to make a reservation for your visit.

Stroll our Charming Main Street

Beacon’s Main Street connects the Hudson river to the West and the mountain to the East. There’s lots of shops, restaurants, and galleries to check out on your way to our spot in Beacon’s Historic East End neighborhood.

Some of our Favorite Local Spots to Eat and Drink:

Breakfast: Beacon Daily
Lunch: Homespun
Dinner: Kitchen Sink
Drinks: Draught Industries

Catch a Movie at Beacon’s Historic Theatre

Our friends over at Story Screen are always showing a great variety of movies and independent films in their newly renovated historic theater. Story Screen is located on Main Street, right around the corner from the brewery. Head over to their website to see what they’re playing this week!
