Pairings: Valley Beer Fall 2022
The latest blend of our seasonal Sour Farmhouse Ale is now available: Valley Beer Fall 2022. Each blend of Valley Beer is made with 100% local malt, spontaneously fermented in our foudres, aged for over a year in oak barrels, and bottle conditioned with local wildflower honey. Valley Beer is one of our favorite bottles to bring to the table due to its versatility. It’s a simple beer that co-mingles beautifully with a range of dishes.
As we enter the cold season in the northeast, we look to the afternoon snack comfort of some charcuterie. Cured meat, toasted sourdough, a salted creamy grass fed butter, and candied walnuts make for a perfect spread. Valley Beer’s tart notes help cut through the delicate saltiness and fat for a bold contrast that will have you excited for your next sip. We like prosciutto or sopressata- but any meat you like best will do.
We’re big fans of a beer with brunch! A staff favorite pairing is Valley Beer with steak frites and a cream peppercorn sauce. The punchy acidity complements the richness of a NY strip steak with a flavorful sauce. Eggs Benedict is sure to create a similar experience, thanks to the creamy hollandaise sauce with runny poached eggs.
The natural carbonation of Valley Beer provides a spritz making it an ideal match for briny Bevertail oysters. You can follow that up with dishes like pork schnitzel or an apricot-glazed duck breast. When enjoying Valley Beer with pork schnitzel, the gentle sourness cuts through the richness of the breaded and fried pork, giving a refreshing contrast between bites. If you pair it with apricot-glazed duck breast, the beer's tang balances the fattiness, and the apricot enhances the natural flavors found in Valley Beer when enjoyed on its own.
