Last summer we took a ride up to the Finger Lakes to harvest New York State grown Merlot grapes at Gibson Vineyards. We crushed and fermented them, whole cluster, with native yeasts.

After 4 weeks of skin-contact fermentation, we pulled off the luscious, bright red wine to rest in oak (more on that to come), and added year old NYS Sour Farmhouse Ale directly onto the pomace (skins, seeds, stems, and all).

Kinds of Light: Merlot walks a line between our classic sour farmhouse ale and rustic, natural wine.

Kinds of Light: Merlot | 7%

Sour Farmhouse Ale brewed with 100% Hudson Valley grown barley and wheat, re-fermented with Merlot grape skins grown and harvested in the Finger Lakes region of New York, and aged in oak for one year.
